It's fiction time. Who's excited? Well, I amπππππππ
Okay. Let's dive right in.
...
Alex, the core of happening guys on campus. Student Union secretary. No lady would mind having one or two 'entanglements' with him.
Shell, Alex's very good friend. Life of the party. Smart, beautiful, petite and with a enviable disposition to life.
No one has a dull moment with Shell, and it's all drab when Shell is 'nowhere to be found.'
Going by Alex's status, Shell shouldn't be a too hard a nut to crack. Coupled with the fact that they've been friends for a while now. Little did he know Shell is not in his 'entangleable' list. She doesn't even have the time to spare to guys, she's all about the grades.
The academic session is ended. Alex and his group of friends threw a party at their lodge. Shell came over, remember, she's the life of the party.
Few hours into the party, Alex walked up to her and asked to see her. They were talking but the noise was drowning Alex's voice; Shell suggested they entered his room.
They got talking, laughing, then Alex got serious.
''Shell, I am done with my undergraduate studies. Just a year of national youth service and I can get married. We have been friends since year 2, almost 3 years now. I will not want to build my home with a stranger, please complete me, accept my proposal, spend my future with me, mother my kids.''
Shell replied ''Alex, is this you? Are you for real? Marriage? Even if I'll assume you're serious, what about Nica? Bett? Tina? What about those ladies that always flicker around you in the Student Union office? Alex please.''
And then she laughs. They both did. It's a regular joke with the duo. Shell reminding Alex of his escapades while endeavoring to talk him out of his way of life.
Shell suggested they returned to the party, come on, she's missing out on so much fun. She took steps to the door, ALAS!!! The door wouldn't budge. It's been locked.
''Come on Alex, let's go. And open your door, it wouldn't budge.'' She said.
Alex wouldn't even smile. His countenance had changed. Shell still wouldn't succumb to fear, until Alex gripped her like he never did, pulled her back into the room, pushed her to the bed, and had his way with her. (Oh, sorry, 'had his way' is subtle). HE RAPED HER!!!
5 minutes passed and he was done, then he started to beg. He disvirgined her. He couldn't believe Shell, his friend for 3 years was still a virgin at 21. Despite her 'life of the party' lifestyle. Despite her beauty.
2 MONTHS LATER...
Alex was still calling and begging. He was guilt ridden. He couldn't believe lust would cost him a beautiful friendship especially with a decent girl as Shell.
3 MONTHS...
Shell... She discovered she was pregnant, so she called to tell Alex. Then the narrative changed. How men change. The begging Alex became the unmovable unrepentant Alex. 'What did I ever do to you? He asked.''
Shell couldn't bear the shame. She terminated the pregnancy.
...
...
Shell should have reported Alex right? But she didn't. She couldn't.
People will turn it on her.
''Why was she at a party?'' They'll ask.
''Why enter his room?'' Others will say.
But she wasn't no stranger. How many sleep overs has she had in Alex's place? They read together, Shell is smarter remember? What about project researches they did at his place? Coupled with the times they just spend together as friends.
Years later, Shell feels she has answers to peoples' question, she decided to come out, backed with the support of those who know her story.
However, people are still asking, ''why is she coming out now?''
...
...
Yes, people fake things. Many are claiming 'rape victims' for fame or dehumanizing purpose. But what if? What if their stories are genuine? What if they thought they'd forgiven, recovered, and moved on, where as, they're still leaving in hurt? What if they cannot trust no one ever again after being abused by a someone they thought to be their friend? What if that occurrence deranged them back then?
What if the man you think is innocent is really guilty? What if he hasn't changed still?
RAPE is a very delicate story, not one to just go judgmental on, especially when it's one they claimed to have happened centuries ago. There is no proof right? The more reason we shouldn't take sides and let God judge the case.

ReplyDeleteSmiles, thank you Sir.
DeleteI'm sure guys have their share too, although majorly at more tender ages. We just have to raise our voices against the act and not drown the voice of those trying to speak up for themselves.
Speaking up is not too easy tho... God help us.
